JANUARY 12 - THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD.

"The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord concludes the Christmas season, during which we revered the Child Jesus lying in a manger in Bethlehem, welcomed the Holy Family from Nazareth, venerated Mary, the Blessed Mother of God, and finally reflected on Jesus' appearance to the Magi, who symbolized the whole world. Through his baptism, the sinless Jesus expresses solidarity with humanity and stands in solidarity with sinners. In this gesture, he reveals himself as "God-with-nami," Emmanuel, who takes responsibility for the destiny of every human being. This feast is also an auspicious occasion to remember our own Baptism, in which the event of Christmas is renewed: God descends to us so that we can be reborn in him. We are called to bear witness to this new life in the Lord before our brothers and sisters and to give it to them as broken bread. This is why the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord opens up ordinary time, the time of everyday life: the baptism in the Jordan marked the beginning of Jesus' public mission, our baptism opens up the vocation to bear witness to Jesus day by day, in the joy of being God's people, on the way to the open heavens."

(Pope Francis).
